Nordnet is an online bank with business in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The company was founded in 1996 as a reaction to the outdated structures in the banking business. The idea behind Nordnet is to give Nordic savers control over their investments and pension savings, and address people who value their independence. Nordnet offers them the tools and the products they need to make their money grow.
Nordnet's three business areas are Investments & Savings, which consists primarily of online investing in shares and funds; Loans, where Nordnet offers mortgages, unsecured personal loans and margin lending with securities as collateral; and Pension which offers pension savings in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Nordic Capital Fund VIII acquired Nordnet in a recommended public tender offer presented on October 25, 2016 and completed on January 25, 2017 with the ambition to create a best-in-class customer experience in the digital savings industry.
Nordnet was re-listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange in November 2020. Nordic Capital remains as a shareholder in Nordnet after the listing with approximately 9% of the shares (as per November 2020).
