Gina Tricot is one of the Nordic region's leading retailers for fashion oriented females, founded in 1997 and operated by the founding family until Nordic Capital Fund VIII's investment in 2014. The company is headquartered in Borås, Sweden and operates some 185 stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Germany. Stores are mainly located in high street A-locations or in shopping centres. The company is also rapidly developing its attractive online offering. Gina Tricot employs around 2,000 people, of which about 150 work at the head office in Borås where the company designs all of its clothing lines in-house.

Gina Tricot operates in the fast fashion segment of the Nordic apparel market, which is one of the most attractive in Europe in terms of per capita spending, and where this segment is outgrowing the overall market. Prior to the investment, Nordic Capital had been following the company for a number of years. Gina Tricot had since it was founded experienced significant growth, until approximately 3 years before Nordic Capital's investment when the company has had a stagnated revenue development.

Key to the Gina Tricot investment is Nordic Capital's significant experience in Nordic retail, and the ability to support the company in areas like low cost sourcing, store optimization, online expansion, operational efficiencies, and a network enabling the recruitment of an outstanding management team.
