Nordic Capital’s Henrik Johansson nominated as finalist for General Counsel of the Year in Sweden

APRIL 02 2020

Swedish business magazine Affärsvärlden has together with the Swedish association for General Counsels and the law firm Vinge, for the sixth consecutive year announced the “Swedish General Counsel of the Year.” Nordic Capital’s talented team has once again been recognised with Henrik Johansson, General Counsel, nominated as one of three finalists for General Counsel of 2020.

Henrik joined Nordic Capital in May 2018 as General Counsel with overall responsibility for Nordic Capital’s legal, structuring and tax affairs globally. He leads a team of eight people and has already spearheaded several initiatives to strengthen the firm’s legal department and deal execution capabilities. Henrik has also been an integral part of the deal team on a number of exits and investments, including the strategic passive minority investment by Ottawa Avenue Private Capital in the firm in 2019, and the spectacular exit of European animal health leader AniCura to Mars Petcare in 2018, where he made a major contribution to the execution of the deal. The legal team is involved in all transactions and during the last two years Nordic Capital has made 15 platform investments and exits. Henrik was promoted to Principal in January 2019. Prior to joining Nordic Capital, Henrik was a partner at leading Swedish law firm Mannheimer Swartling.

Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner at Nordic Capital, commented: “This industry recognition is a great endorsement of Henrik’s talent and his contribution to the continued success of Nordic Capital.  Henrik combines legal and structuring work with great business acumen in an intense M&A environment. The General Counsel role is part of our constant drive to invest in our organisational structure and develop our in-house legal, structuring, tax and deal execution capabilities. Henrik has already, during his two years with us, made a very significant impact and I would like to congratulate him on this achievement.”
