Nordic Capital invests in AniCura

JUNE 18 2014

Nordic Capital Fund VIII, "Nordic Capital", announces its investment in AniCura, the leading Nordic operator of companion animal hospitals and veterinary clinics. With the support of Nordic Capital, AniCura will be strengthened for the next phase of its development, through continued professionalisation and expansion of the business.

AniCura is currently owned by a large number of staff, the Foundation Djursjukhus i Stor-Stockholm and the Swedish investment firm Fidelio Capital. All parties will remain significant co-owners together with Nordic Capital. Through Nordic Capital's co-ownership, resources will be made available for, among other things, establishing a new veterinary specialist neurological centre at AniCura Albano Animal Hospital in Danderyd, Sweden.

Nordic Capital has followed the veterinary industry closely and shares the vision of management, and other co-owners of building a future-oriented, strong and professional company, which will be well positioned to best meet the needs, demands and expectations of patients, customers and employees.

"AniCura is a very interesting company, with an important task to improve and professionalise veterinary medical care. Nordic Capital shares the management team's view of the demands and challenges in this market, and looks forward to contributing to the continued development of the company and the significant investments required in order to meet future veterinary healthcare needs. With extensive international experience in healthcare, Nordic Capital will be able to strengthen AniCura in its further development", says Tommi Unkuri, Director, NC Advisory AB, advisor to the Nordic Capital funds.

AniCura was founded on the concept of combining resources to provide better veterinary medical care. Established in 2011, AniCura constitutes the first significant combination of companion animal hospitals and veterinary clinics in the Nordic region. Today, the company comprises several of the Nordic region's most renowned companion animal hospitals and veterinary clinics, provides veterinary care in 60 locations and caters to half a million patients annually.

"We are very pleased that Nordic Capital has chosen to invest in AniCura. Their extensive experience of successfully developing businesses in cooperation with management and employees, suits us perfectly and gives us the opportunity to accelerate the positive development we have had so far. Together we will create the future of veterinary care", says Peter Dahlberg, President and CEO, AniCura.

The investment is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
