Nordic Capital has again been named as an ESG Champion at the Real Deals Private Equity Awards 2024

APRIL 19 2024

The “ESG Champion of the Year – Large-Cap” award recognises Nordic Capital’s commitment to best practice in environmental, social and corporate governance. It credits Nordic Capital for the way in which ESG is integrated into its investment strategy, how data is collected, analysed and reported, and how its responsible investment approach stand out from its peers.

Nordic Capital was an early adopter of responsible business practice and in recent years has demonstrated continued commitment to sustainability, both within its own organisation and its portfolio of 55 companies. It’s most recent entity Nordic Capital XI (EUR 9 billion in committed capital) is categorised as SFDR Article 8 with clear SDG targets, while over 95% of all Nordic Capital’s portfolio companies now integrate sustainability into their own business plans and more than two thirds reporting on sustainable impact. Sustainability is central to Nordic Capital’s investment process and its Responsible Investment Policy is applied throughout the due diligence, investment, ownership and exit phases.

During 2023, Nordic Capital undertook many new initiatives to drive positive impact across the organisation and its portfolio, including continued support of industry wide initiatives and reporting. In recognition of its ongoing efforts in this area, Nordic Capital has achieved the highest score from UNPRI, putting it in the top 10% of private equity firms globally for ESG integration. Furthermore, Nordic Capital has backed several investments underpinned by sustainability tailwinds and enabling the green transition.

Elin Ljung, Managing Director, Head of Communications & Sustainability at Nordic Capital Advisors, said: “We are delighted that Nordic Capital is once again recognised for championing ESG and thank Real Deals for shining a light on this increasingly important area of private equity activity and performance. Not only is responsible business practice essential for achieving long term success and value creation, but private equity has the power to positively change the future for both people and the planet. This is embedded into Nordic Capital's culture and investment framework.”

Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner at Nordic Capital Advisors, commented: “This award reflects both the commitment of our team who advise engage at all stages of the investment process from sourcing and selection through to exit, promoting best practice in governance, social and environmental behaviour, and that of Nordic Capital’s portfolio companies, which increasingly prioritise and report on their sustainable impact. We are proud of the achievements made in this important area and of Nordic Capital for being recognised among such a strongly performing group of peers.”
