Kristoffer Melinder named one of the 50 most influential people in European private equity for the sixth consecutive year

  • Continued strong momentum for Nordic Capital in 2023

DECEMBER 05 2023

Financial News and Private Equity News have again named Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner, Nordic Capital Advisors, as one of Europe's 50 Most Influential People in Private Equity. Kristoffer has been included in this list every year since it was first published six years ago. The senior executives on this year's list are credited for their accomplishments and the contributions that they have made to the private equity industry, in spite of recent market uncertainty and macro-economic volatility.

As sole Managing Partner since 2016, Kristoffer Melinder has successfully led the firm through the recent turbulent macro environment, ensuring that the organisation has continued to thrive and the portfolio to achieve strong trading performance.

Focusing on sub-sectors within Healthcare, Technology & Payments, Financial Services and Industrial & Business Services, Nordic Capital has invested over EUR 23 bn in more than 140 transactions since its inception in 1989. In the last 14 months alone, it announced nine platform acquisitions and four full divestments, as well as partial sell downs.

Kristoffer has also overseen the growth of the organisation and has continued to develop talent within the firm. Across all fund and advisory teams, Nordic Capital currently has more than 230 employees in ten offices across three continents, including 55 new members and 18 promotions in the last twelve months.

Kristoffer is recognised as a champion of sustainable investment and during his tenure, Nordic Capital has further increased its commitment in this area. As a strong believer in responsible investment and business practices, Nordic Capital scored very highly in the latest UNPRI Transparency Assessment Report and continues to embed robust ESG practices within its portfolio companies.

Kristoffer Melinder: "There is no question that recent years have brought uncertainty and challenges to all businesses. However, we are pleased to have maintained strong momentum, where the latest funds, Nordic Capital XI and the mid-market strategy Nordic Capital Evolution, have made careful deployments in attractive investments across their focus sectors and segments. To date, six investments have been made in Nordic Capital XI and eight in Nordic Capital Evolution, all of which leverage our sector and sub-sector expertise and extensive experience in growth acceleration and international expansion."

He added: "We have also continued to focus our advice on ownership excellence within Nordic Capital's portfolio, working hard to secure strong exits, as was demonstrated by the highly successful sales of Macrobond and Consilium Safety Group. Furthermore, we have placed great importance on the ongoing growth, evolution, and culture of our organisation. Inclusion in this prestigious list of private equity leaders is a fantastic endorsement of the achievements of this team.”

Note: The 50 "most influential" people were selected by Financial News and Private Equity News, who conducted thorough market research to assess candidates' firepower in Europe, their recent track records and their wider industry profile. See the full list HERE.
