Since Nordic Capital invested in Duco in 2021, the company has expanded its AI-powered data automation platform and its global footprint across financial services. Today, Duco is trusted by many of the world's largest banks, asset managers, asset servicers and alternative asset managers, with the platform processing over 17 billion transactions each month. Duco’s proprietary AI-based matching has been at the core of the platform since it was founded and now underpins a new generation of agentic capabilities built for the control and audit requirements of regulated financial operations.
Investing behind a long-term automation opportunity
Nordic Capital invested in Duco in August 2021 after identifying data automation as an attractive long-term theme within financial services. Financial institutions were managing growing volumes of increasingly complex data, while many critical operational processes continued to depend on manual work and legacy systems.
Duco stood out through its cloud-native, no-code technology and deep financial markets expertise. Its platform enabled operations teams to build and adapt sophisticated data processes themselves, reducing reliance on lengthy technology projects while maintaining the controls required in complex financial environments. Duco’s early use of AI also allowed the platform to address data preparation, reconciliation and quality challenges in a more flexible way than many traditional point solutions. Drawing on its experience as a subsector specialist in Technology & Payments, Nordic Capital saw the opportunity to take this proposition to more customers and markets and to broaden the range of problems the platform could solve.
From the outset of the partnership, sustained investment in Duco’s underlying technology was a priority. The company built a multi-year technology roadmap focused on architecture, scalability, efficiency and user experience, alongside continued investment in R&D and technical capabilities.
In parallel, Duco has extended its commercial reach across the US, Europe and APAC and built out its customer success and partner functions, with a focus on deepening relationships with large financial institutions.
Applying agentic AI to financial operations
Advances in agentic AI have opened up a new set of possibilities in financial operations, and this is now Duco’s central area of product investment, within the value creation agenda developed jointly with Nordic Capital.
In 2025, Duco introduced a new generation of agentic capabilities. In May 2026, Duco unveiled Agentic Workspace, its agentic operations platform for financial services, bringing autonomous agents together with the platform’s established reconciliation, data preparation, exception management and audit capabilities. Following an early access programme with a select group of enterprise customers, the platform is now being rolled out across Duco's client base.
In financial services, agentic AI is only useful if it can operate inside highly regulated workflows without compromising control, transparency or auditability. This is where Duco’s existing control and audit layer matters: agents operate inside a system already built to evidence what was changed, by whom and on what basis, which is what allows greater automation without loss of oversight.
Three questions to Christian Nentwich, CEO of Duco
How has Duco evolved since Nordic Capital invested in 2021?
“We have continued to invest in the technology that made Duco distinctive in the first place, while significantly broadening what the platform can do. Today we handle data in whatever form it arrives, and AI runs through the whole platform. We have also grown internationally and built the organisation needed to serve some of the world’s largest financial institutions in mission-critical scenarios.”
How has the partnership with Nordic Capital supported Duco's development?
“Nordic Capital understood both the financial markets we operate in and the long-term opportunity for automation. It was clear that Duco had to move upwards and invest heavily to become an enterprise player in these markets. We also moved away from solving single use cases, to becoming a broad platform. As a result, we scaled the size of our engagements significantly, while retaining a pure, cloud-native product innovation approach that aligns with our original mission.”
Looking ahead, what opportunities are you most excited about for Duco?
“Duco has spent years building the technology and domain expertise needed to solve complex operations problems in Financial Services at scale. But now we find ourselves at a once-in-a-generation point: agentic AI will have a radical impact on the nature of work in financial institutions, with agents taking over much of the task work. With almost 200 customers ready to serve with agentic operations technology at the click of a button, Duco has its best time ahead of it.”
