Four top prizes for Thule in the prestigious iF Product Design Award
Dec 04, 2012
Once again, Thule is on the winner's stand in the prestigious iF
Product Design Award. The Thule Easy Fit snow chains, the Thule
Wingbar Edge roof rack, the Thule Pack and Pedal Pannier bike bag
and the Thule Perspektiv Daypack camera bag are all winners
assessed by the jury criteria of design, finish, material and
innovation level, as well as functionality, ergonomics and
safety.
- All of us at the Thule Group are happy and proud today. We
create possibilities for people to live active lives by designing
cool and stylish products that make a functional difference in an
outdoor environment. The four prizes verify that our products meet
very high quality demands from both design and functionality
perspectives, says Fredrik Erlandsson, Thule Group Senior Vice
President Communications.
The iF Product Design Award covers all areas of industrial
design in product development, and since 1953 it has been
internationally recognized in the whole world as clear evidence of
outstanding and innovative design. In competition with more than
3,000 entries, Thule won prizes for three products in the
Transportation Design category and one product in the
Leisure / lifestyle category.
Transportation Design
Thule Easy Fit snow chains have an automatic tensioning
system activated with the foot and then further tensioned when the
car is rolling. The stable bows on the inside of the wheels make it
easy to mount the snow chains from the top of the wheel and
down.

Thule WingBar Edgeroof rack
has a low design to get closer to the car roof, and with the softly
curved aluminium profile it gives Thule WingBar Edge a simple and
aesthetic look that fits all car models. Through the use of
aviation technology and wind tunnel tests, the Thule WingBar Edge
is close to noiseless.
