Capio, one of Sweden's and Europe's leading healthcare
companies, has acquired the orthopaedic specialist hospital
Movement Medical in Halmstad, in southwest Sweden. The acquisition
is further strengthening Capio's offering within orthopaedics and
gives the company an enhanced presence in the southwest region of
Sweden.
Movement
Medical is offering specialised orthopaedic care and radiology and
has healthcare agreements with the county councils in Halland and
Västra Götaland. In 2010, the hospital received more than 6,000
doctor visits and performed more than 3,300 in- and outpatient
surgeries. The hospital has 71 employees of which 8 are doctors.
The company's three founders, Mats Örjes, Patrick Överli and Per
Gustafsson will continue in the business.
Capio already has a strong offering within orthopaedics in Sweden.
Not least through the reputable specialist clinic Capio Artro
Clinic at Sophiahemmet in Stockholm, which is focusing on
arthroscopic surgery, sports related injuries and
rehabilitation.

Capio is also offering orthopaedics through the hospitals Capio S:t
Göran's Hospital in Stockholm, Capio Lundby Hospital in Gothenburg
and Capio Läkargruppen in Örebro. Additionally, Capio is offering
orthopaedics through specialist clinics at some of the company's
primary care centres. Capio also has a strong orthopaedics offering
at its hospitals in France, Germany and Norway. Sharing of
knowledge and experience between countries is taking place
continuously within the Group.
Movement Medical is part of Capio since 16 December.
