Capio is the leading pan European healthcare provider with operations in Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Capio has an extensive network of over 100 hospitals and clinics.

Capio was acquired by a public-to-private transaction in 2006 by Nordic Capital Fund VI, together with Apax Partners and Apax France, to provide Capio with active owners to enable Capio to increase and improve operations and further expand via organic growth and add-ons.

In 2007, Capio´s operations were improved and a highly specialized clinic chain, Vena, was acquired with operations in Germany and Switzerland. Also, in 2007 the sponsors acquired listed Unilabs, a well-known laboratory services company with operations in several European countries, to which Capio Diagnostics division was sold in 2008. Capio Healthcare UK was divested in 2007. In addition, Capio has secured a number of new contracts for example in Bayonne (France) and Stockholm (Sweden).
