Capio is the leading pan European healthcare provider with
operations in Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, France
and Germany. Capio has an extensive network of over 100
hospitals and clinics.
Capio was acquired by a public-to-private transaction in 2006 by
Nordic Capital Fund VI, together with Apax Partners and Apax
France, to provide Capio with active owners to enable Capio to
increase and improve operations and further expand via organic
growth and add-ons.
In 2007, Capio´s operations were improved and a highly
specialized clinic chain, Vena, was acquired with operations in
Germany and Switzerland. Also, in 2007 the sponsors acquired listed
Unilabs, a well-known laboratory services company with operations
in several European countries, to which Capio Diagnostics division
was sold in 2008. Capio Healthcare UK was divested in 2007. In
addition, Capio has secured a number of new contracts for example
in Bayonne (France) and Stockholm (Sweden).
