Nordic Capital awarded Operational Excellence Award in EMEA/Healthcare by Private Equity International

OCTOBER 12 2012

Nordic Capital clear winner for the development and transformation of Nycomed from a local to a global player, in the Operational Excellence Award announced by Private Equity International on October 8.

The judges were particularly impressed with the add-on acquisitions that were made to transform Nycomed into a leading global pharma company.

"The story is amazing. It's a clear winner", said judge Eric Ellul, Boston Consulting Group.

"The revenue growth, the margin growth - and I know there was some M&A involved - was just spectacular, a real transformation from a local player to a global player. They made some smart add-on acquisitions. They did some very hands-on operating work regarding efficiency gains and operation and sourcing, [plus] new launches. I just loved it", said judge Thomas Pütter, Ancora Finance Group.

"[Nordic Capital] went into pharma, which is an extremely difficult sector, and they improved multiple components of the business. I liked the unusual way they made acquisitions, some of which were three times the company's size", said judge Eli Talmor, Coller Institute of Private Equity.

"Nordic Capital spends a lot of time with the portfolio companies, identifying potential, helping and supporting the management team. Nordic Capital prides itself on being active and staying close to the execution in the portfolio companies", said Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner, NC Advisory AB, advisor to the Nordic Capital Funds.
